Brigid, Ireland’s well known saint and goddess, had an iconic mantle which became a term for the feeling of enveloping, draping and covering someone in a comforting embrace. This is exactly what we feel our Brigid’s Mantel does. Knit in our 2 ply yarn, it creates a cosy feeling which can be worn draped over shoulders or bunched snug around the neck.

Brigid has many followers in Ireland and beyond, who often undertake pilgrimages in her memory. In honour of this we created a Pathfinder stitch which runs elegantly throughout the scarf composing interesting and flattering geometry depending on how you wear it.

Lovingly handmade by Ann & Anne on their domestic knitting machines from home and made from our signature Ériu blend of 100% Irish wool yarn, reviving an ancient legacy though our fair-trade Farm to Yarn wool network across Ireland.

We named our first woven collection Tara, after Ireland’s sacred site on the Hill of Tara. Known as a “Royal Site,” this is an ancient piece of land where the High Kings of Ireland were coronated, and chosen, by their beloved Sovereignty Queens, who were trusted by the community, to choose the rightful King.
For their grand ceremonies they would have worn beautiful woven cloaks made of wool, harvested from the sheep on the land, woven by their local artisans, in the exact same way as our Farm to Yarn practice.

The natural antibacterial properties of pure wool mean your Ériu knitwear will require less frequent washing. Regular airing will restore freshness, and isolated stains can be spot cleaned with water and mild or organic soap, dabbing with a lint-free cloth.

Hand wash in cold or lukewarm water using a mild eco, wool-friendly detergent. Squeeze and move suds through the material without wringing or stretching the blanket. Rinse thoroughly in clean water.

Carefully remove from the water and press gently in between hands to squeeze out water. Do not wring the blanket! Finally, roll in a towel to remove further liquid.

Line dry for best results.

Do not tumble dry!
